Actually, fantasy may not be so rare, but the quality of the writing sure is. This series Is riveting throughout. We the readers love our heroes, even those who have gone morbidly astray. But Martins keeps us thrilled and anxious for the next turn of the story. Great series with many more books already written
Ever since I read Everet Martins' first book I can't get enough. His stories are expertly written. The story draws you in and keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what's going to happen to the characters next. I find myself lost in the book all the way through. Whenever I finish a book I feel myself axiouhly waiting for the next one. My hat's off to you Mr. Martins on one of the best series I've had the great pleasure to read since The Wheel of Time. Highly recommend The Age of Dawn to anyone looking for an awesome reading experience!

The entire series is beautifully written. Exquisite emotional development between the heros set on a path deemed by fate, love, loss and friendship. I forsee an epic battle and a phenomenal ending, sad though it will be to see the story come to an end.
I loved this book. I really like the color scheme of the cover and the illustration of The Silver Tower. This book was very action packed and bloody and it leaves on an interesting cliffhanger. I liked the small inclusion of some LGBT characters specifically a gay couple who are Tower armsmen and a lesbian couple.

Darkthorne realizes that Malek stole Bonesnapper and he gets killed by Asebor for his failures and as punishment. Alena is given Darkthorne's body and is told by Asebor to go ahead with the assault against the Silver Tower. Asebor wants to find and kill the Dual Wielder. Asebor found Terar's dead body and his pet (Juzo) fled with Blackout. Juzo struggles with his new state of mind of being a vampire. Baylan asked Juzo to help him sketch a ward to protect The Lair when they leave for the Silver Tower. Nyset joins the Herbalist sisterhood with assistance from Walter unknowingly. Grimbald is given a position as Captain on the Midgaard Falcon army by Jast, a General of the Midgaard army. Baylan is almost killed by two assassins from the Silver Tower as it was revealed later on that he and Lillian were on the run when they realize Asebor was going to be freed and the Arch Wizard didn't believe them and imprisoned them however they escaped. Grim killed the two assassins and he and Baylan recount what happened to Walter, Nyset and Juzo. Juzo tells his friends about being a Blood Eater and they want to find a way to reverse possibly. As they depart Midgaard they see the dismembered survivors from the fight in The Great Retreat, and they leave for The Silver Tower.
Walter and Grimbald have a talk about the Dragon and Phoenix gods and the Shadow Realm. Nyset almost got eaten by a Sand Buckeye but Baylan saved her. Juzo returns to the Tigerian Bluffs and he
realizes Malek was turned into a Blood Eater like himself and he finds the Chains of the North where Malek hidden them. Juzo releases Terar's prisoners and he hides Bonesnapper and returns to his friends. Baylan explains to his friends that he going to use a fake name, Zane because they won't suspect anything as Nyset and Walter trains with the Dragon and Phoenix respectively, and Juzo and Grimbald join with the Tower armsmen. They meet Bezda Lightwalker, Arch Wizard and Tamia, House of the Dragon Master. After going to their assigned classes. Baylan realizes his old friends have already died. Walter and Juzo have a talk about Juzo's sword, Blackout and how he doesn't trust the sword and how it talks to him. Juzo later on comes to deal with his cravings. Baylan's disguise it discovered quickly by Phoenix Master, Grozel and he learns Tamia is romantically with Bezda.
Baylan teaches Walter how to create Portals with his powers as the Dual Wielder. Walter and Nyset go to a Healer to try to remove the curse on Blackout while having Juzo being strapped down to a table. The sword Blackout killed the healer and Nyset is pulled into the sword. Nyset killed the beast inside Blackout and frees the souls that Blackout captured for they can pass over. Nyset returns injured and she and Juzo stay in the infirmary for a couple days. Walter encounters Carlin a spirit and warns about an approaching Demon army going to the Tower which Walter tells Baylan.
Walter goes to tell Bezda about the Demon army coming to attack but he and Bezda both forget about the conversation because of Tamia using a Mind Eater on them. Tamia takes the Equalizer Crystal from Walter. Alena's army of Cerumal, Death Spawn, Black Wynches, Shattered Wings and Skin Flayers are approaching Silver Tower gates. Darkthorne is killed by Bezda after warning them to step down or be killed and the Wizards and Armsmen advance against the horde of demonic creatures. Walter and Bezda realize Tamia is actually one of The Wretched, Hilanda, who serves Asebor. Bezda is killed by a horde of creatures while Walter killed Hilanda.
Juzo, Grimbald, Nyset and Baylan fight the army and are all injured and hurt when Walter assists them and most of the remaining wizards and armsmen dead. Asebor brutally injures Walter and Baylan Portaled in Walt's place and is killed by the Demon God. Walter fights Asebor but loses and is killed to Nyset's dismay. Nyset, Grimbald, Juzo escape carrying Walter's motionless body through the tunnels to Helm's Reach with the few survivors thanks to Arms Master Burtz.
Nyset, Grimbald and Juzo decide to bury Walter's 'dead' body and they meet Farly from Helm's Reach and Nyset introduced herself as the new Arch Wizard of the Silver Tower. Walter wakes up to a terrifying beast in the Shadow Realm.
I hope Walter get revived in the next book and I want to see how Nyset, Grimbald and Juzo deal with Walt's death. I wonder if we'll see Malek again.
